La Subterranean Press ha annunciato l'uscita, prevista a inizio 2013, di The Willful Princess and the Piebald Prince, nuovo racconto di Robin Hobb appartenente al ciclo Realm of the Elderlings. Sarà pubblicato in un volume speciale di 184 pagine illustrato da Jon Foster, pre-ordinabile sul sito della casa editrice:


Come da titolo, narrerà la storia del Principe Pezzato, in parte già nota dalla trilogia dei Lungavista: secondo la leggenda, il Principe Pezzato nacque da una Lungavista, la principessa Testarda, e uno Spirituale chiamato il Briccone dello Spirito, che aveva condotto via la giovane sotto le sembianze dello Stallone Pezzato. Il bastardo, chiazzato chiaro e scuro come suo padre, riuscì a salire al trono con l'inganno, precipitando il regno nel terrore con l'aiuto di accoliti dello Spirito. A mezzogiorno del solstizio d'estate, però, quando i poteri del Principe Pezzato erano più deboli, un cugino di puro sangue Lungavista e altri sei nobili lo aggredirono e lo uccisero: egli venne impiccato, dopodiché il suo corpo fu fatto a pezzi e bruciato sull'acqua per impedire che il suo spirito potesse incarnarsi in qualche bestia. Questa divenne poi la procedura tradizionale per liberarsi definitivamente degli adepti dello Spirito.
