RE: L'evidenziatore
You know, the thing about fucking is, it's a lot less wear and tear than trying to kill each other with bits of steel. And it's that does tend to lead to confidences and favours if you play it right.

Da The Heroes, Joe Abercrombie:
"He'd never laid claim to being a brave man and he'd only got more cowardly with age. Strange thing, that - the fewer years you have to lose the more you fear the losing of 'em. Maybe a man just gets a stock of courage when he's born, and wears it down with each scrape he gets into." "Before you make a man into mud make sure he's no use to you alive. Some men will smash a thing just because they can. They're too stupid to see that nothings shows more power than mercy." "His father used to tell him it's easy to see the enemy one of two ways. As some implacable, terrifying, unstoppable force that can only be feared and never understood. Or some block of wood that doesn't think, doesn't move, a dumb target to shoot your plans at. But the enemy is neither one. Imagine he's you, that he's no more and no less of a fool, or a coward, or a hero than you are. If you can imagine that, you won't go too far wrong. The enemy is just a set of men. That's the realisation that makes war easy. And the one that makes it hard." "The truth is like salt. Men want to taste a little, but too much makes everyone sick." "All you can do is take each day as it comes. Try and do the best you can with what you're given. You won't always do the right thing, but you can try. And you can try to do the right thing next time.

Nyphron Rising The dark had a way of drawing attention to the normally invisible, silent, and ignored. That was why nights were so frightening without the distraction of light, the doors to other senses were unlocked. As children, the dark spoke of the monster beneath the bed, as adults the intruder, and as old men, the herald of death on its way. The Emerald Storm "That living has no value - it is what you do with life that gives it worth." "My father used to say, 'A knight draws his sword for three reasons: to defend himself, to defend the weak, and to defend his lord', but he always added, 'Never defend yourself against the truth, never defend the weakness in others and never defend a lord without honor." Wintertide "Happiness comes from moving toward something. When you run away, ofttimes you bring your misery with you." "Life is like a bully that gets laughs by seeing how much humiliation you'll put up with. It threatens to kill you if you don't eat mud. It takes everything you care about - not because it wants what you have, or needs it. It does it just to see if you'll take it". Percepliquis "Sometimes the price of dreams is achieving them." "You don't believe in the gods, Nimbus?" He smiled wryly. "Oh, I most certainly believe in them, Your Eminence. I just don't think they believe in me." "What is the advantage of fear, or the benefit of regret, or the bonus of granting misery a foothold even if death is embracing you? My old abbot used to say, 'Life is only precious if you wish it to be'. I look at it like the last bite of a wonderful meal - do you enjoy it, or does the knowledge that there is no more to follow make it so bitter than you would ruin the experience? If God wishes for me to die, who am I to argue? After all, it is he who gave me life to begin with. Until he decides I am done, each day is a gift granted me, and it would be wasted if spent poorly. Besides, for me, I've learned the the last bite is often the sweetest." marco La vita è così grande / che quando sarai sul punto di morire / pianterai un ulivo / convinto ancora di vederlo fiorire.
